In 2011, after Courtney Love asked the crowd at a Hole’s concert to call the Foo Fighters gay, Dave Grohl responded by putting the rainbow flag on his guitar and saying that gay is not an offense. Also in 2011, the Westboro Baptist Church were protesting against gay rights in front of a Foo’s concert in Kansas, and the band responded by playing “Keepin’ it Clean (Hot Buns)” and giving a pro-gay right speech for them.
